I do believe that registered users are able to add entries to the events calendar. To do so, click on the "Calendar" button near the top of the page, on the right.
Once the calendar is displayed, there is a button on the bottom right of the page to "Create New Calendar Event." Click on it and make your entry.
Be sure to save it when finished!
